Despite not having a working television, I am unable to avoid the presidential race, or the pre-election race show. It is all over every news channel, especially since “super Tuesday” and some guy named Mitt dropped out of the Republican Primary today. The catch phrases, also known as advertising slogans, are very ironic. For example, “You Decide 2008″ is what is being passed around so we can identify with the primary elections as well as making the association with actually “deciding”. I think they are trying to make that synonymous with voting, but really your vote is totally marginalized by some electoral college. Diane Rehm admitted that she didn’t even understand all the new rules of the delegate/SUPER delegate primary system. It is a game show. I wonder if 30 million dollars could be spent on something better than bashing Hillary Clinton’s history, trying to win this bullshit election. Also, why isn’t there a physical challenge? A mud wrestling contest or spear throw would tell me a lot about a possible candidate…and the results are quantifiable! I’m sick of watching the trickery and word bending that is a debate. I feel like I’m being lied to, over and over. Mostly I wish I didn’t have to hear or see this garbage because the outcome doesn’t really matter. The only thing more insane than a presidential race is thinking that any of the candidates actually represent anyone in this country besides the ultra-wealthy.
